History of Structural Insulated Panels?
When you talk about Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) many people in the construction industry think it’s a new technology that still needs to be proven over time. However, SIPs have been around in one form or another since the 1930s. Here’s a brief timeline.
What are Structural Insulated Panels?
Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) are used as a replacement for traditional exterior framing, insulation, and sheathing in both residential and commercial buildings. They are made of an EPS foam core with OSB skins on both sides, adhered together with commercial-grade polyurethane adhesive. This construction method makes them similar in design to an I-beam.
